Job Details

REMOTE DevOps Engineer

Establish policies and procedures for our infrastructure on GCP.

Ensure proper monitoring and logging.

Ensure operational security for our cloud based platform.

Work with our software engineering team to deploy and operate our systems.

Architect, develop, and implement a secure operating environment for our software.

Identify and optimize the inter-dependencies between Engineering and Infrastructure Operations.

Implement continuous delivery and monitoring.

Because you would be the first Sr. DevOps Engineer, you would have a lot of leeway to build the perfect deployment strategies from scratch. There is very little legacy infrastructure to deal with.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Manage and optimize code configuration management tools. CI/CD tools, application and log monitoring, and automated database, code, and infrastructure pipelines utilizing our Google Cloud instance(s)

Build and maintain systems that will monitor all aspects of the application and the infrastructure.

Maintain and actively harden infrastructure while understanding strategies for providing high-availability and security.

Work with the Design, Engineering, Product, and IT teams to architect, implement, and maintain automated software installs on multiple environments, production deployments, and infrastructure needs to support a secure CI/CD strategy.

Serve as a thought leader and partner to security, compliance, engineering, and architecture teams.

Participate in defining the overall technology roadmap.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and propose solutions to engineering, security, and infrastructure related issues.

Participate in, and/or lead application identity integration discussions with clients using SAML 2.0.

Resolve incidents, outages, and be part of an on-call rotation.

Support internal IT team, infrastructure, and applications.

Architect, develop and deliver fully automated multi-account global cloud infrastructure on GCP using repeatable methods and patterns

Support continuous delivery pipelines for the deployment to all layers of our SDLC

Conduct Infrastructure as Code reviews ensuring high programming standards

Identify and correct bottlenecks in the system, while working with Engineering on optimizations and best practices

Support integration of log management and an APM solution to provide continuous monitoring capabilities, track all aspects of the system, infrastructure, performance, application errors and roll up metrics

Provide mentorship and training to other team members on technologies and processes, drive education and knowledge transfer of design patterns, technical practices, and relevant technologies and tools

Troubleshoot and analyze root cause issues in the platform

Fully participate in the ownership of your services and components, including on-call duties

Interacting and communicating with technical and non-technical audiences which includes offshore and onshore remote teams.

WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED?

Qualified candidates have extensive experience with Development Operations, Cloud based Infrastructure, and Security Operations. You have proven skills identifying constraints/bottlenecks in software engineering lifecycles, and automating them. And your toolbelt includes infrastructure as code configuration management tools, CI/CD tools, application monitoring, and automated database, code, and infrastructure pipelines. Google Cloud Platform skills are a must have.
A successful candidate will have strong DevOps and SecOps experience for scalable products and be self-motivated with demonstrated commitment to building world class products.

2+ years of experience managing, building, and deploying docker images

5+ years experience with architecting, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems on a multi-account cloud based platform

2+ years experience in developing and automating GCP (primary cloud environment)

7+ years overall experience of software development and DevOps

Strong experience with CI/CD practices and tool chains

Knowledge and understanding of security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, or application security

Strong experience using Git - (GitLab, GitHub or BitBucket) including writing webhooks, merge strategy and release management

Strong experience with Document Databases, ideally MongoDB

Strong experience with modern monitoring and metrics platforms such as New Relic, Datadog, or SumoLogic

Infrastructure as Code tools such as terraform, packer, CloudFormation, etc.

Orchestration and automation tools such as ansible, puppet, chef, etc.

Programming/scripting languages like shell, python, groovy, Go, Nodejs, etc.

Deep level knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems.

Experience with data services such as Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Redis.

HELPFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

The following skills would be beneficial to have, but can be learned on the job if you do not already have experience.

Experience with Rush JS
