Experis IT is seeking a senior DevOps engineer with experience in leading a team and implementing robust CI/CD solutions. This is a contract position located in Durham, NC but can be worked remotely.


The successful candidates will be required to lead a team of DevOps engineers to manage and enhance an Enterprise DevOps Platform which helps software engineering teams accelerate their DevOps Maturity and accelerate feature delivery to their customers.

This platform is hosted in AWS and consists of DevOps & SDLC tools and CI / CD automation capabilities. The candidate will be working with many software engineering teams and technical leaders across the company.


Lead a team of DevOps and automation engineers to manage the Enterprise DevOps Platform (EDP) and AWS infrastructure.

Work with software engineering teams (customers) to understand their usage / needs of the platform.

Customize and evolve the EDP by empowering teams to propose new tools / enhancements and co-create enhancements with these teams.

Ensure EDP value, including retiring redundant or end-of-life tools.

Work with teams not on the platform to understand their toolchain and highlighting benefits with the Enterprise DevOps Platform.

Required Skills

7 - 10 years of experience in Software Development or supporting the tools related to DevOps, including 5 years' experience as a DevOps Lead leading a team of DevOps & automation engineers.

Experience managing a DevOps toolchain as a product.

Expert hands-on experience with AWS cloud technologies.

Experience in cloud infrastructure projects, development automation, security and implement best practices related to new and existing products and services.

Experience with designing, implementing pipeline automation and orchestration utilizing the following stack or similar: GitLab, Nexus, Docker, Kubernetes, SonarQube, BlackDuck, Jira

Strong hands-on administration experience with popular DevOps tools and technologies such as GitLab, Nexus and SonarQube.

Experience with on-call support and supporting critical applications.

Strong experience in AWS, Azure cloud platform administration.

Experience with seamless upgrade of different services and components. This includes installing new tools and upgrade existing tools hosted on AWS.

Hands-on experience to build and handle VM's, Containers utilizing tools like Kubernetes, Docker

Hands-on experience in building, designing, and maintaining cloud-based applications with AWS

Demonstrable scripting experience with a variety of scripting languages for automating tasks, generating reports, and creating tools (Eg. Groovy, Shell, Python)

Strong general system administration skills and comfort on command line.

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Great aptitude for problem solving

Minimum 5 years of experience in developing and supporting DevOps with in-depth understanding of DevOps Processes/tools

Experience with on-call work and supporting critical applications.

Mentor, train, lead a team of DevOps & automation engineers. Good To Have

Managing a DevOps platform (toolchain) for software engineering teams.

Experience working with a team supporting SaaS offering.

AWS & Azure certifications

Understanding of DevOps Maturity models
