Description
Responsibilities:
· The DevOps Engineer will apply systems thinking and advanced automation skills as a contributor to the D&H IT transformation initiatives, with a focus on establishing iterative software development processes across our Core, Web, Integrations, Dynamics AX, and 3rd party technology stacks.
· Working collaboratively with Release Management and Development, the DevOps engineer will help to drive the creation and enhancement of the release/build/integration/deployment processes for internally developed software and integrated 3rd party applications.
Platform Management
· Have ownership of one or more application platforms across production and lower environments.
· An understanding of the platform(s) as it relates to how it functions within the D&H enterprise IT systems.
· Platform ownership responsibilities will include:
· Fulfilling the role of platform expert in support of D&H business efforts.
· Assuring the health and overall readiness of the platform (monitor and validate operational quality).
· Performing ongoing application administration and system maintenance.
· Understanding the platform roadmap – i.e. planned feature and capability enhancements that are relevant to D&H stakeholders.
· Applying patches and updates at the right time.
· Documenting the SOPs for maintaining the platform and adequately training a backup for executing those SOPs when the owner isn’t available.
· Provide Tier 3 support when required for D&H enterprise systems, with the primary context being the platform(s) under the engineer’s ownership.
· Release Automation:
· In support of the iterative development process at D&H, the DevOps engineers will help to create and maintain repeatable, reliable processes for moving code along the delivery pipeline.
· Leveraging tools for code deployment as well as environment configurations will be key. DevOps engineers.
· Tier 3 Support:
· Every DevOps engineer will participate in the on-call rotation.
· This requires an understanding of the D&H enterprise systems as a whole and an understanding of how the systems interact.
· On-call rotation cycles through every member of the DevOps Engineering team, one week at a time. Currently (Fall 2020), an engineer is on-call once every seven weeks.
