Rackspace is seeking an Google Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer to join our team in San Antonio, Austin, or Remote. Google Cloud Platform is one of the fastest growing cloud platforms in the world today with Rackspace supporting some of the top Enterprise GCP customers. In this role you will be part of the team that architects, implements and deploys our Google cloud based offerings.

Architects solutions using OpenStack and related technologies. Load tests customer applications to assist with performance tuning and capacity planning. Contributes to open source tools that assist in configuration management, deployment and operation of high-availability, high-performance applications.

Customer Focus: Our DevOps Engineers get to build one-of-a-kind, cutting edge cloud solutions for some of our top enterprise customers. Our primary focus is to distill confidence in our customers by creating customized solutions and a top-notch customer onboarding experience.

Automation: Customer deployments should be solidly reliable and repeatable. Knowledge of tools like Github, CircleCI, Terraform, and GDM are critical to achieving this goal. Responsibilities:
Work with a talented and highly engaged team of Engineers, Relationship Managers and Product Team
Automate deployments utilizing custom templates and modules for customer environments on Google Cloud Platform.
Architect GCP environment best practices and deployment methodologies
Create automation tools and processes to improve Team and Racker day to day functions
Educate customers on GCP and Rackspace best practices and architecture
Assist in educational briefings for teammates to advance in technical trainings for continued growth
Act as an escalation point for our GCP Support Engineers when required
Provide a continuous Fanatical Support experience for our customers
Operates under moderate supervision.
Supports high complexity customers and internal teams on an as-needed basis. Collaborates with other teams on tools for systems automation. Works in conjunction with multiple teams to make sure that Rackspace infrastructure and customer applications work harmoniously together.

Qualifications:
3+ years experience as a DevOps engineer.
Working knowledge of GCP Resources and Services, Scaling, Load Balancing, CDNs, Networking etc.
Experience automating and orchestrating workloads on GCP.
Experience in scripting specifically PowerShell and Bash.
Experience with Google Deployment Manager and Terraform
Proficient leveraging CI/CD tools to automate testing and deployment
Experience with Docker containers, Kubernetes and/or GKE and micro-services architecture.
Experience in the GCP services & APIs.
Knowledge of databases (SQL Server and MySQL)
Working knowledge of Backup and Recovery methodology and implementations
Knowledge of supported network appliances and related solutions in GCP is preferred. F5, Cisco, Palo Alto etc.
Good knowledge of application development using Agile, and DevOps best practices
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate both technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences
Effective with time management and expected deliverables
An ability to multi-task and work on multiple concurrent projects
Must be Google Cloud Certified or be able to obtain them within 90 days of starting role.
Expert web programming and scripting ability. Expert automation skills with Chef or similar. Expert knowledge of Open Cloud APIs and SDKs. Broad knowledge of the following with deep knowledge of several: PHP, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Memcached, LAMP, nginx, node.js, nosql, Varnish, git. Working knowledge of software development methodologies including code profiling, regression testing, and continuous integration.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related technical field required. At the manager’s discretion, additional experience may substitute for the degree requirement
Commercial experience as either a LAMP stack software developer and/or systems administrator with at least 1 year of current commercial experience as a DevOps Engineer working with a high-traffic site. Experience with high-availability, high- performance, open source web technologies. Experience with cloud platforms, open source databases and caching layers

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
Required ability to successfully meet CJIS requirements including background checks (including national fingerprint record checks and drug testing) and/or criminal history investigations.
