Life Fitness has an exciting and critical “DevOps Engineer – Microsoft Azure” role open within our Infrastructure team.  This role will have primary responsibility for the day-to-day and project work that occurs within the Life Fitness Azure platform, managing servers and storage instances, up through the entire tenant.  The qualified candidate will bring experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using tools like Azure DevOps, Puppet, and Terraform, in order to continue the Life Fitness pursuit of a DevOps/IaC culture and environment.  This person will also be trained as a backup to their team colleague on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Linux side, so that the two positions can back each other up and provide assistance where needed. 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain and grow the DevOps/IaC practices wherever possible and be a team champion for the practices that will help us do this, using industry standard tools such as Azure DevOps, Puppet, and Terraform. 

  • Primary administration of all server, storage, and other virtual appliance instances within Life Fitness Azure tenants. 

  • Provide triage support for critical incidents, and when automated monitoring proactively alerts of an issue. 

  • Partner and advise with infrastructure and application architects as new technology is planned, requiring Azure resources. 

  • Use Veeam backup platforms within Azure to adequately protect data and applications. 

  • Shared administration duties for Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments. 

  • Provide Windows and Linux operating system support, being a Tier II escalation for operating systems within the infrastructure team. 

  • Liaise with our Security team to understand and correct any security vulnerabilities within environments you support. 

  • Maintain CI/CD infrastructure and process troubleshooting principals, proactively monitoring disk space, memory, and storage use, etc., and making adjustments to avoid business impact. 

  • Meticulous documentation for as-built systems, keeping current with any changes.

  • Creative in approach to combinations of skills and tools, in order to provide architecture solutions. 

 

Organization / Planning:

Education:  

  • B.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent experience 

 

Job Knowledge/Experience: 

  • A minimum of four years’ experience as an Microsoft Azure administrator.  Preference given to those with OCI administration experience. 

  • This position specifically requires expertise with both Linux and Windows systems with an emphasis on methods for automating operations Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in MS Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments. 

  • Proficiency with tools such as Azure DevOps, Terraform, Puppet, and CI/CD methodologies and tools for automated infrastructure code test, integration, deployment, and assurance. 

  • Deep competency in virtualization, cloud infrastructure technologies, and networking. 

  • Proficiency with PowerShell and Python.   

  • Proficiency with multiple cloud-based data center infrastructure technologies such as server virtualization, storage, network, security, middleware, and database, preferably within Azure and/or OCI. 

  • Experience with security best practices, as applied to infrastructure platforms. 

  • Familiarity with API integrations, such as Single Sign-On (SSO) 

  • Experience with IT Operations. 

 

Additional Requirements:  

  • Ability to travel up to 5%, for Life Fitness site-support, or for education. 

  • Ability to support production systems for emergency support, and for systems maintenance required to be performed outside of business hours. 

  • Other duties as assigned.
