Job Description:

The Mainframe DevOps Engineer is a key cross technology role and supports Mainframe DEVOPS activities for four DEVOPS Platform servers, Endevor Tool platforms and four additional Deployment Tools.   

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in on-boarding Application User personnel to DEVOPS Mainframe Development environment
  • Ensure change controls are processed and security and audit activities are met
    Support 4 zLinux servers and multiple SPK's on the Horizon Platform in support of the DevOps Initiative
  • Perform SELMA Packages for ID/z, Topaz Connect, IDz, DevOps Assistant, Sonar Lint and MyLyn utilities
  • Demonstrate and provide technical leadership and knowledge
  • Lead resolution processes for complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors
  • Communicate across differing audiences including technical, managerial and vendors
  • Develop technical solution requirements and lead individual or small team initiatives
  • Participate in 24x7 on call rotation and be required to provide off hours support as necessary 

Required Job Skills:

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in Information Technology
  • Experience with:  GIT, Bitbucket, z/os USS, z/OS Connect, Gradle, Groovy, Maven, Jenkins, Ansible, XLR, IDZ and/or Eclipse based software development process,
  • Knowledge of programming languages and facilities YAML, Python, Java, XML and COBOL
  • Ability to learn, adapt, and innovate on your own, with strong knowledge of Agile Development practices
  • Ability to participate in a 24x7 Oncall rotation and be required to provide off hours support as necessary 
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral are required as the individual must interface with application developers, support teams, software vendors and management staff.    
     

Desired Job Skills:

  • Knowledge of VSCODE, REXX
  • Basic knowledge and/or experience with Mainframe z/OS, JCL, TSO, ISPF
  • Developer background
  • Ability to work closely with clients to resolve issues
  • Mid-level knowledge of IBM Utilities i.e. IEBCOPY, IEBGENER, etc.
