Principal Cloud DevOps Architect                         St Paul (Little Canada),MN  or Austin, TX

The Principal Cloud Development Operations Architect works closely with Development, Network, Infrastructure and Requirements team on critical issues by evaluating the problem, proposing and implementing resolutions and partnering with other teams as needed for the resolution.  In this role, you are a critical technical contributor to building compelling products within Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) Division. You will lead creating and maintaining services to continuously build, Deploy and Release software for Embedded, Web and Mobile Platforms.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development, operation, and maintenance of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for projects under development and maintenance

  • Plan and deliver secure, good practice data integration strategies and approaches at scale and also in production

  • Define and maintain the development and deployment infrastructure for various cloud-based applications

  • Collaborate and work with a broad range of technologists, software developers and other support personnel, both within and outside of Abbott, on the maintenance and troubleshooting of applications

  • Perform root cause analysis, including troubleshooting of build and deployment related issues

  • Ensuring the continuous improvement and evolution of software work products

  • Creating and maintaining documentation for DevOps processes, tools, and usage

  • Initiate proposals and plans on continuous improvement of DevOps processes, tools and technologies

  • Monitor application performance by anticipating and correcting operational issues before their occurrence; develop effective alerts and automated responses.

  • Troubleshoot performance problems in production; create more stable operating environments by continuously improving the infrastructure to be easily deployable and scalable.

  • Develop and document processes to support ongoing development, change control, and production maintenance

  • Report on current infrastructure status and assist in planning for future usage.

  • Advise on cost optimization for current infrastructure.

Required Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline

  • 10+ years’ experience covering the entire software lifecycle in a team-oriented environment.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure compute, network, storage, virtualization, containers, infrastructure automation, using DevOps methodologies and tools

  • Hand-on experience administering Azure / Azure AD / Azure DNS / IAAS & DEVOPS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate to all levels of the organization

  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload that is often dynamic and changing.

Preferred
 

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline

  • Development/Process Tools: Visual Studio Code, Jira, Azure Pipelines

  • Experience working in a regulated industry such as automotive, aerospace, healthcare, or defense

  • GPA > 3.0
