The DevOps Engineer provides day-to-day support of production and non-production environments, including maintaining stable environment configurations to support project development efforts and ensuring that environment capabilities meet project demands. Skilled with advanced troubleshooting, escalation, and driving service restoration activities helping ensure all duties are completed in a consistent and timely manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Adapts existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems
  • Understands the strategic direction set by senior management as it relates to team goals
  • Uses considerable judgment to determine solution and seeks guidance on complex problems
  • Primary upward interaction is with direct supervisor
  • May interact with peers and/or management levels at a client and / or within Optum / UHC
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments with guidance
  • Crafting DevOps solutions that leverage AWS, Azure and internal products / service capabilities to meet critical requirements
  • Creating multi region high availability systems
  • Treating infrastructure as code and making it scalable
  • Creating easy and simple to maintain infrastructure
  • Working with client IT Security team to make sure all standards and guidelines are being followed. Support security audit and review functions
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Automating CI/CD pipeline with high availability

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer
  • 3+ years of AWS experience
  • 2+years of Azure experience
  • Experience with CI / CD, Automating pipelines with scripting (Jenkins, shell / python, etc.)
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and monitoring of physical, virtual, and hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience administering Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments, ECS, Load Balancers, security groups, VPCs, ingress / egress rules, etc.
  • Experience in creating sustainable cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with Linux System Administration (Red Hat or similar)
  • Experience with developing app management tools and monitoring
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with maintaining infrastructure as code with tools like cloud formation, terraform, etc.
  • Experience with System Health Monitoring (Cloud Watch, Splunk, NewRelic, etc.)
  • Experience with security patching
  • Experience with container technology (Docker and / or Kubernetes)

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600.
